Scientific Sessions/Tracks

TRACK 1: Cardiac and Cardiovascular Research

Cardiovascular Researchers deals the heart and/or the blood vessels, a branch of biomedical science enveloping both cardiovascular function and dysfunction, as in cardiovascular diseases. The mission of Cardiovascular Research is to help interdisciplinary research in essential, translational and clinical cardiovascular sciences, including cardiovascular development, work, pathophysiology, pharmacology, hereditary qualities, genomics and proteomics and to apply this data to understand the causes of cardiovascular diseases way better and to pioneer improvement of modern imaginative treatments and approaches to anticipate or treat them. Cardiovascular disease is the primary cause of death in the U.S. It’s important to read about your heart to help prevent it. If you have it, you can live a healthier, more active life by studying about your disease and taking care of yourself. Types of cardiovascular disease can have various causes, so it’s important to know the variation.

TRACK 2: Cardiovascular Diseases

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the diseases that involve the heart or blood vessels. CVD Contains coronary artery diseases (CAD) such as angina and myocardial infarction ( known as a heart attack). Another CVDs include stroke, heart break, hypertensive heart disease, rheumatic heart disease, cardiomyopathy, abnormal heart rhythms, congenital heart disease, valvular heart disease, carditis, aortic aneurysms, peripheral artery disease, thromboembolic disease and venous thrombosis.

The underlying mechanisms vary depending on the disease. It is predicted that dietary risk factors are allied with 53% of CVD deaths. Coronary artery disease and peripheral artery disease include atherosclerosis. CVD may be caused by high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes mellitus, lack of exercise, obesity, high blood cholesterol, alcohol consumption and poor sleep among others. High blood pressure is estimated to account for nearly 13% of CVD deaths. The tobacco accounts for 9%, diabetes 6%, lack of exercise 6% and obesity 5%. Rheumatic heart disease may follow unprocessed strep throat. There are many cardiovascular diseases including the blood vessels. They are called as vascular diseases.

They are:

  • Coronary artery disease
  • Peripheral arterial disease
  • Cerebrovascular disease
  • Renal artery stenosis
  • Aortic aneurysm
  • Valvular heart disease
  • Congenital heart disease
  • Rheumatic heart disease
  • Streptococcal

TRACK 3: Cardiologists

Cardiology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the heart as well as parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease and electrophysiology. Physicians who specialize in this field of medicine are called cardiologists, a specialty of internal medicine. Pediatric cardiologists are pediatricians who specialize in cardiology. Physicians who specialize in cardiac surgery are called cardiothoracic surgeons or cardiac surgeons, a specialty of general surgery.

TRACK 4: Artificial Intelligence in Cardiology

Artificial Intelligence in Cardiology which is intelligence presented by machines, touches almost every feature of modern life, along with medicine. Artificial Intelligence is being used to program computers to process and respond to data quickly and consistently for better treatment results. Uses include vigilant heart disease, treating strokes faster and enhancing diagnostic radiology capabilities. For suppose Artificial Intelligence in Cardiology is applied AI techniques to a new screening tool for left ventricular dysfunction in people without notable symptoms. The artificial intelligence assisted screening tool identified people at peril of left ventricular dysfunction 93% of the time. To put that in aspect, a mammogram is accurate 85% of the time.

Cardiovascular medicine doctors, specialists and scientists are combining Artificial Intelligence with clinical practice for better care. Here are three examples that have lifted from the research stage to use in the clinic:

Helping people who have had a stroke: In emergency rooms, when people come in with a stroke called an intracerebral hemorrhage, they get a Computed tomography (CT) scan. That scan is examined by a computer trained to evaluate CT data, cutting the time to diagnosis and limiting brain damage.

Preventing heart disease: Applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Electrocardiography (ECG) has resulted in a low-cost test that can be widely used to detect the presence of a feeble heart pump, which can lead to heart failure if left untreated. Cardiologists is well situated to advance this use of AI because it has a database of more than 7 million Electrocardiography (ECG) s.

Detecting atrial fibrillation (a-fib) sooner:  Artificial Intelligence (AI)-guided ECGs are also used to detect faulty heart rhythms (atrial fibrillation) before any symptoms are evident.

TRACK 5: Robotic Heart Surgery

Robotic surgery grants surgeons to do complex rectal cancer surgery, which had been highly challenging, in a lesser invasive manner. The robot provides upgraded visualization of the surgical site through 3D magnification, enhanced dexterity for manipulation, dissection of tissue and greater precision. During a Robotic-assisted process, your surgeon uses master controls to manipulate the devices and the instruments translate your surgeon's movements and talks into precise movements and talks inside your body. Your surgeon is in control the complete time the surgical system responds to the direction he provides.

The published data regarding robot-assisted pyeloplasty show admirable results and success rates ranging in between 94% and 100%.One of the main profits of robotic cardiac surgery is that it has fewer risks than open-heart surgery. The surgeon does not have to cut through the breastbone to open to operate your chest. This removes lot of the complications of open-heart surgery. The robotic arms, which can rotate 360 degrees, enable surgical devices to be lifted with greater precision, flexibility and range of motion than in standard minimally invasive laparoscopy. Most procedures take two to three and half hours under general anesthesia. Robotic surgery offers consistent, reliable results with reduced blood loss, pain, and improvement is common with more traditional surgical methods.

TRACK 6: Cardiovascular Surgeries

Cardiovascular surgery is also known as cardiac surgery or heart surgery describes any surgical procedure that involves the heart or the blood vessels that carry blood to and from the heart. Coronary artery bypass graft surgery also called coronary artery bypass, coronary bypass or bypass surgery is the most common type of heart surgery. More people have successful bypass surgery in the United States each year. The earliest surgeries on the pericardium (the sac that surrounds the heart) took place in the 19th century and were performed by Francisco Romero (1801) in the city of Almeria (Spain), Dominique (1810), Henry Dalton (1891), and Daniel hale Williams (1893). The first surgery on the heart itself was performed by axel cappelen on 4 September 1895 at Rikshospitalet in Cristiana, now Oslo. Cappelen ligated a flow of blood in coronary artery in a patient who had been stabbed in the left axilla and was in deep shock upon arrival. Access was through a left thoracotomy. The patient awoke and seemed fine for 24 hours, but became ill and died three days after the surgery from mediastinitis.

The advancement of cardiac surgery and cardiopulmonary bypass techniques has greatly decreased the mortality rates of these procedures. For example, repairs of congenital heart defects are currently estimated to have 4–6% mortality rates. A major interest with cardiac surgery is neurological damage. Stroke occurs in 2–3% of all people undergoing cardiac surgery and the rate is higher number in patients with other risk factors for stroke.

Risk Reduction: Pharmacological and non-pharmacological prevention approaches may decrease the risk of atrial fibrillation after a surgery.

TRACK 7: Hypertension

Hypertensive heart attack is caused due to high blood pressure that affects the heart. The symptoms of hypertensive heart attack will depend on whether it is accompanied by heart failure or not. The heart working under high pressure leads to some other heart diseases. Hypertensive heart attack have heart failure, thickening of the heart muscle, coronary artery diseases and so on. In the absence of heart failure, hypertension, with or without enlargement of the heart is commonly symptomless. Hypertensive heart disease is the cause for severe health problems. It’s the main cause of death from high blood pressure.

TRACK 8: Cardio Oncology

Cardio-Oncology is a new field of interest in cardiology that focuses on the discovery, monitoring, and treatment of cardiovascular complaint being as a side effect of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Cardio-Oncology aims not only to descry and manage cardiotoxicity but also to help in the overall care of cancer cases with and without heart complaint in an interdisciplinary manner that ranges from the original assessment of cardiovascular conditions and cardiotoxic pitfalls to survivorship and long- term follow-up. Utmost excrescences that form in the heart are not cancerous. But some heart excrescences can be cancerous. Cancer that begins in the heart is most frequently sarcoma, a type of cancer that originates in the soft apkins of the body. Heart cancer (nasty primary cardiac excrescence) is extremely rare. Heart excrescences may beget no symptoms, minor symptoms, or symptoms of life- changing heart malfunction. Noncancerous excrescences can be as deadly as cancerous bones if they intrude with the function of the heart.

TRACK 9: Cardiac Devices

cardiac device is used to keep your heart beating or Rhythm with a normal rhythm. There are many types of equipment’s available. If you have heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and need a device, your doctor will let you know and talk with you about the outclass type to meet your needs.

  • Automated external defibrillators (AEDs)
  • Cardiac ablation catheters
  • Cardiovascular angioplasty bias
  • Cardiac leaders
  • Implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs)
  • Prosthetic (artificial) heart faucet
  • Stents
  • Ventricularhelpbias (VADs)

TRACK 10: Electrocardiography (ECG)

Electrocardiography is the process of producing an electrocardiogram (ECG) a recording – a graph of voltage versus time – of the electrical exertion of the heart, using electrodes placed on the skin. Changes in the normal ECG pattern do in multitudinous cardiac abnormalities, including cardiac meter disturbance (similar as atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia), shy coronary roadway blood inflow (similar as myocardial ischemia and myocardial infarction), and electrolyte disturbances ( similar as hypokalemia and hyperkalemia). ECG comprises of three main factors the P surge, which represents the depolarization of the gallerias; the QRS complex, which represents the depolarization of the ventricles; and the T surge, which represents the repolarization of the ventricles. An ECG conveys a lot of information about the structure of the heart and the function of its electrical conduction system Among other effects, an ECG is used to measure the rate and meter of jiffs, the size and position of the heart chambers, the presence of any damage to the heart's muscle cells or conduction system and the goods of heart medicines.
